ASICS Gel Nimbus 27 vs Gel Nimbus 26

Thanks to its responsive cushion and supreme comfort, the ASICS Gel Nimbus 27 continues the legacy as one of the most popular neutral daily trainers on the market.

Revisiting the Gel Nimbus 26 (2024)

The ASICS Gel Nimbus 26 was a popular daily training shoe known for its cloud-like set up with the full length high stack FF Blast Plus Eco which gave runners a lightweight and soft running experience. The Gel Nimbus 26 also featured a soft stretchy knit mesh built off the 25 series which kept the foot secure with personalised lockdown without sacrificing weight and breathability.

Midsole and Cushion: More responsive

When it comes to the tech, you can almost always trust ASICS with their max cushioning set up. The midsole in the GEL NIMBUS 27 is still the beloved full length FF Blast Plush Eco cushioning now made from 24% bio-based.

However this time, ASICS has added an additional 2mm of stack height which offers a slightly more responsive setup than the 26.

We noticed the snappier response particularly if you’re heel striking on an easy pace run. The firmer stack height is also designed to add more stability, which we thought was an excellent idea for those after more support especially from a neutral shoe.

The newer sidewalls around the heel also adds to the improved stability feel.

A Roomier Shoe

One of the standout changes in the Nimbus 27 is the slightly wider toe box. While the Nimbus 26 already offered a good amount of space, the latest model provides even better accommodation for wider feet. ASICS has also kept with a wide-fit version available for those who need extra room.

The engineered jacquard mesh upper has been improved, delivering a softer and more breathable feel. The heel collar remains more or less the same, maintaining the snug and comfortable fit.

Our Verdict on the ASICS Gel-Nimbus 27

Easy and Long-Distance Runs: Enhanced stack height boosts shock absorption, making it well-suited for extended efforts.

Walking & Everyday Wear: A refined fit and plush cushioning make it a great choice for all-day comfort.

New Runners: The blend of cushioning and stability offers an excellent option for beginners.

For Faster Workouts: If you prefer a lighter, more responsive shoe, the Nimbus 27 may feel a bit heavy. Look for the ASICS Novablast 5 which is more performance driven
